oh, baby!

Man what a busy day...so busy that I am only just now posting at 11pm!!  Today I threw a shower for my cousin Emily.  She is due on July 27th (I think).  She is also having a boy!  And we are all very excited!  Not sure who all knows - but this is the summer of boys.  Yep...everyone is having a boy.  Emily (Patrick Ryan Joyce - what an Irish name!  I am so proud.  LOL), Sarah (my SIL), and Chelsea (another cousin). My sister, Wendy, and Sarah's sister (and one of my best friends), Leslie, are both having babies, but they are going to be surprised...I am here to tell you that those babies are boys.  It is just how things have to be.  Leslie has two girls and they are trying for a boy (so it should be a boy!) and Wendy needs a boy.  Wendy has three kids now, two girls and a boy, so it will only be economical for the next kid to be a boy - so he and Asher can share a room when the time comes.  RIGHT??  So they are boys...bottom line...I have declared it so.  Hahahaha...now I have probably jinxed them...opps.  :)  Anyway - Emily's shower - Momma forgot to tell Grandmother that it was going to be at her house...great start to the day right?  so she was freaking out - I was the only calm one all day.  We had a great spread and may I just say those cupcakes were SOOOOOO CUTE!  They were also super yummy - thanks to the help of those amazing little chefs at the Lipman Culinary Institute (you didn't know that existed?  Yep, the location is the pre-school three class).  We had lots of fun - not a ton of people...but not overwhelming either.  Yay!

Dry Eyes

As many people know I have severe dry eyes.  Last August I realized that I wasn't able to see clearly so I went to the eye doctor.  The doc gave me some new contacts, a week later I couldn't see out of them...that happened about three more times before I went to a specialist.  First it was a retina specialist- nope nothing wrong there.  Then a cornea specialist - my corneas were fine, except they seemed very dry.  He did a test that confirmed I had dry eyes.  He told me that having dry eyes can gravely affect a person's vision.  I just thought he must be nuts - it is just dry eyes, right?  WRONG!  I had to be checked for diabetes - cause that can cause dry eye (the tests - all three of them - were negative.  Thank YOU Jesus!!), I am on a prescription eye drop twice a day that is supposed to help my eyes make more tears (the test he did showed I was barely making any), and I have to use liquid gel drops as needed everyday with GEL drops at night (yuck!).  Anyway, it is a hassle and my eyes are still not great.  My vision is totally off because of it and I am having a problem wearing my contacts - so it is glasses everyday.  I also have plugs in the tear drains in my eyes - the corners of each eye...  And that is my pic of the day - hahaha.  I had to get new plugs cause the other ones fell out (i rubbed my eyes too much once the allergies kicked in) and man could I tell that they had been working.  I am so excited that I got those plugs put in today - how weird is that?  But my eyes already feel better.

eat dirt...

Did you ever eat dirt, mud, or make mud pies when you were a kid?  I never did...I have always been the "I don't wanna get dirty" kid.  Don't get me wrong I got dirty, I played outside, I collected ladybugs and fireflies...but I never ate dirt (at least not to my recollection).  Yesterday (May 12), I ate dirt (and mud) from a cup...with worms.  And let me tell you, it was YUMMY!!

I wasn't the only one who thought the dirt cups were delicious...all the kids gobbled them down.  The cups were made with crushed up Oreos, chocolate pudding, more crushed up Oreos, and gummy worms!!!  Thanks to one of the parents for the summer birthday treat!

no parking....but playing is fine

So we went out to the pecan grove today (playground at school)...we go out there everyday that it is not raining or wet from rain. 
The pecan grove is directly next to the central parking lot at the U of M, and the school began construction on the parking lot Monday.  Today, however, is the first day of bulldozing (to my knowledge).  We were mesmerized!
